In the early 1930s, mealtime at the Children's Home was most often a hectic event. The Children's Home was Tampa's orphanage on Florida Avenue. It is where I grew up, from 1926, when I was an infant, to 1943 when I was 18 and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II.
